Non-medical home care · Middleborough, MA
Housekeeping, laundry, meals, errands, rides to appointments, and steady company — delivered in your loved one's own home by trained, background-checked caregivers. Owner-operated, and the owner answers the phone.
What we do
The ordinary work of keeping a household running — the part that gets hard first, and the part that most often decides whether someone can stay at home.
Vacuuming, dusting, kitchen and bathroom cleaning, changing the bed, taking out the trash, keeping walkways clear.
Washing, drying, folding and putting away clothes and bedding, in the home or at a laundromat.
Planning and cooking meals to suit their tastes and any diet their doctor has set, plus cleanup and safe storage of leftovers.
Groceries, the pharmacy counter, the post office, the bank — with them, or on their behalf with a written list and receipts returned every time.
Rides to the doctor, dialysis, the senior center or church, with a caregiver who walks in with them and waits.
Conversation, cards, a walk, reading the mail together, a standing visit on the calendar. Isolation does real damage, and this is the part families underestimate.
J & B provides non-medical homemaker and companion services. Our caregivers do not:
If what your family needs is personal care or skilled nursing, say so on the first call. We will tell you plainly that it is outside what we do, and point you toward the kind of provider who can help.
Getting started
Tell us what's going on at home. Fifteen minutes on the phone is usually enough to know whether we're the right fit — and we'll say so if we're not.
A free visit at the home to meet everyone, walk through the house, and write down exactly which tasks are wanted, on which days, at which hours.
We match a caregiver and set a standing schedule. Urgent situations start within 24–48 hours; routine starts within five business days.
Coverage
We'd rather serve a small area well than spread thin across the South Shore and leave caregivers stuck in traffic instead of in your parent's kitchen.
Just outside these lines? Call anyway — if we can staff it reliably, we will.
Who you're calling
I spent more than eight years in direct care before starting J & B — most recently as a team leader in a residential program, responsible for staff, schedules, documentation and the families who called when something wasn't right.
I started this company because I kept meeting older people who needed help with the laundry and a ride to the doctor, and were offered either nothing or a placement. The help in between is what J & B does.
We're deliberately small. I take the calls myself, I do the home visits myself, and if something goes wrong on a Sunday you are not leaving a message with a call center. That is the whole difference, and it only works at this size.
